Key Cigarette Brand Becomes Well-Known Chinese Trademark Source from: Hubei Daily newspaper 11/22/2006 ![]() The Yellow Crane Tower - a key cigarette brand of Wuhan Tobacco Group in central China's Hubei Province - was rated by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce as a well-known Chinese trademark on November 12.
On November 16, Wuhan Tobacco Group - one of the largest Chinese tobacco manufacturers - announced that sales of the Yellow Crane Tower has been extended to 30 of the 32 provinces and provincial-level regions in the Chinese Mainland, from six registered in 2003. As a result, the Yellow Crane Tower has become a national-level cigarette brand instead of a regional one.
The Yellow Crane Tower was created in 1928.
Reemerged in 1996, the Yellow Crane Tower is a high-level cigarette product given priority in future development by Wuhan Tobacco Group.
In 2005, the sales volume of the Yellow Crane Tower exceeded 110,000 cases (5.5 billion cigarettes). With an annual increment of over 50 percent in sales, the Yellow Crane Tower has become one of the fastest growing cigarette brands in China.
In a recent interview with the Hubei Daily newspaper, Peng Mingquan, a top leader of Wuhan Tobacco Group, said that so far this year, the sales income and the amount of profits and taxes of the Yellow Crane Tower have respectively gone up by 38.41 percent and 42.45 percent year-on-year. Enditem
